AI headshot for LinkedIn: from selfie to professional photo
A good AI headshot does not turn you into someone else; it only rebuilds the light, the background and the crop. How good the result looks depends mostly on the photo you start from.

Start from the right photo
AI cannot invent detail that is not there, but it keeps the detail that is. Your source photo should have:
- A sharp face, turned towards the camera.
- Even light — not half the face in shadow.
- No heavy filter; the AI will treat filtered skin as your real skin.
- Head and shoulders in frame.
Choose the tone for the platform
The Profile Photo tool in Glooowe’s AI Studio has five tones, each for a different use:
- Professional — clean studio background, even light. For LinkedIn and CVs.
- Social — daylight, simple background, warm colour.
- Dating — soft side window light, a realistic everyday background.
- Creator — directional accent light, richer colour.
- Soft — low contrast, pastel background.
What changes and what stays
The tool is designed to rebuild the background, the light and the crop. It is instructed to keep your face, facial proportions, expression, hair and clothing as they are, and not to “beautify” your features. The goal is the same person in a better shot.
AI still makes mistakes. If you do not immediately recognise yourself in a result, do not use it — a profile photo has to look like you first.
Not for official documents
Passports, ID cards and visas usually require a photo in which facial features have not been altered. An AI-generated image can be rejected. For those, see the guide on taking a passport photo with your phone.
Quality and use
AI results come back at roughly 1K resolution — enough for profile photos, avatars and banners, not for large prints. AI generations need a connection and use credits.
Frequently asked questions
Will the AI change my face?
The tool is instructed to keep your face, expression, hair and clothing; what it rebuilds is the background, light and crop. If you do not recognise yourself, use the “Report a problem” button and skip that result.
Can I use an AI headshot on LinkedIn?
That is the platform’s call. The general principle: a profile photo should show you realistically, which is why the Professional tone is kept simple.
What resolution is the result?
Roughly 1K. Plenty for a profile photo, not for large prints.
